And you forgot... She didn't mention the veil at all.

But I agree it was really different writing style from the rest of her books. I can see where you thought someone else wrote it. I suck at my grammar and I still caught quite a few. But I was just thinking this is what she wrote 17 years ago. She said she wrote most of this book before she even wrote SS/PS. And some one else has said it felt like she didn't even polish it in those 17 years.

I agree there was a lot of holes in the storyline this time, but the epilogue was so odd it should have been just left out all together. That and I was upset Harry got to name all the kids and none of them had the name Fred. Family should have clearly came before Albus or Severus. Maybe it's James Fred, but that just sounds odd. I think it just brought forth more questions instead of answering any. And it was the only part of a very clearly ADULT book that was wrote for children. Very fairy tale-ish. :-/

I did cry a little at the beginning with the 7 Potters thinking this is the end who is going to die. :-( But that was just more feelings for the book coming to an end then anything. Other then that the only death that hit me was Dobby's. Very tearful. And I did have happy tears with Kreacher become nice to them.

As for Harry dieing, I HATED it. Not that he died but that he came back to life. She has been telling us for 10 years now that you can NOT come back from the dead but here she is contridicting that with Harry. YUCK! I honestly feel like she couldn't let harry go when it came down to it and changed it. I believe she had him marked to die but he's the one that got the reprival. Part of me can understand that. She did have Harry a part of her left for so long he was almost child like to her, but on the other hand she left it so open now she'll HAVE to write more.

Why do you feel badly about posting here?

Anyone coming into this thread on the Forums knows that there are spoilers in it. It is clearly marked as such, so it isn't like we are ruining it for anyone not done with the book yet. They are fully aware there are going to be discussions of details in the book (Or movie, if it's that thread).

That is what this area is for. To discuss what we think of details without ruining things for anyone not wanting to know. It is also why it was moved from an open forum (where it was first posted) to the one warning that there are spoilers inside and not to open if you don't want to see them.

It's ok. Really.

Just incase someone hit it by mistake on the home page. I know I've hit one meaning to hit the on under or above it before. But it's okay. If you want to go and chat there you can I have a mistakes thread. It's the only topic I've posted in so far. If not that's cool too. It was just a thought. Still love this place. LoL!

I've just finished reading. I would've been done sooner, but as this is the last one I wanted to make it last.

I think my life is over, lol. I didn't really think the ending was that bad. Harry conquered death by accepting it. He didn't really die. He and Voldemort were just knocked out.

WHAT ABOUT THE VEIL?!! AAARGH OOOH maybe that's where Harry and Voldy, and Dumbledore were, behind the veil.

The epilouge was corny, I'll admit. But lots of squees for Ron and Hermione!! Finally, gah.

SHE KILLED LUPIN!!! That was probably the worst part for me. That and Snape dieing. I knew he was a good guy all along.

Ok ok, enough ranting. It was still amazing. biggrin.gif I can't wait for that encyclopedia.

I so forgot Voldermort got knocked out.

So in King's Cross was the creature/baby the real Voldermort or just the part that died with Harry?

If it was the real one then wouldn't he have known that Harry was going back even if he wasn't really paying attention?

And if it was just the part of Voldermort, was it just left in King's Cross...?

I'm pretty sure it was just that part of Voldemort, that part of his soul, that had been clinging to Harry for 17 years. It stayed in limbo I'd say, and I don't think it was in any state to comprehend anything going on around it. Doing so much damage to ones soul makes it unstable, Dumbledore said so in HBP.

I get things wrong all the time, but ~

I thought that since Voldemort tried to kill Harry, his magic would destroy the soul-piece, but that since Harry hadn't actually died, he was the only thing keep it alive/functional. Since it was "over there", and (better yet, symbolically) behind him, V's own magic/curse knocked it loose from Harry. V destroyed his own horcrux in this instance. Once Harry left the intermediary/limbo place, the soul-bit would just be gone like the other ones.

(One of the parts of this scene that I liked best was that Harry wanted to help it, pretty much proving that Dumbledore was right about Harry's powers.)

Wow. I don't even know where to start. I have been holding back reading and commenting until I read it twice. I of course tore through it in 8 hours flat at what felt like warp speed the first night.

I cried alot. Not normal for me. I thought JK did a fantastic job of bringing the emotion and characters to the page in this book--especially in certain parts. At the same time it was very different than alot of the other stuff she has written.

Best emotional parts:

The 7 Potters
When I thought Hagrid fell to his death
The Ghoul
H & Hr in the tent
The smashing of the locket and afterwards
The whole bit at Malfoy Manor (the torture, Ron, Hermione, the mirror!)
Dobby (oh, my heart broke)
Fred
Tonks and Lupin (did not see that coming, but see why she did it)

The only part of this book I didn't like was the Epilogue. I could handle Harry coming back to life. (Though as a writer, I can't help but say it would have been better and more monumental if he didn't) I expected him to sacrafice himself, but I didn't expect him to die. I sort of thought...no I definitely thought... he had more of Lily's soul in him that would protect him. Course it was Voldemort not Lily. I just thought Harry as a horcrux seemed like too obvious of a theory.

But I loved it anyway. The ONLY thing I REALLY didn't like was the epilogue. It would have been loads better if she would have just left it off. I thought by the end of the book it went without saying that Harry and Ginny, as well as Ron and Hermione would get together and live happily ever after. I think it was even obvious enough the Voldemort was gone without it being stated that Harry no longer felt a twinge in his scar. Plus the epilogue sounded like fan fiction, and not the good kind.

And thank goodness the character that got a repreive got a repreive. That would have been too terrible.

She said she was going to kill him in OotP so I suppose when the snake bit him. Gald she didn't. I think he way she wrote that was perfect.
