The b&n near me doesn't start handing tickets out until 2! Anyway, last time when I went to get a number for HBP I got their an hour before they started handing out tickets and I was still like number 100, so I get their as early as you can. I know I can't get to my store anymore than an hr and a half before 2 so, as long as I can get in the store friday night with everyone waiting to line up for the actual books I'll be happy.

Our Borders starts giving out tickets at 3. I don't really care what number I get, just as long as I get my book! My mom surprised me and reserved the deluxe. I'm also getting the regular version from Amazon. I usually get two of each book so that I don't have to lug them between houses.

It's getting so close. I'm on the edge of my seat. YEAH!

Yeah, the one my aunt ordered for us from Amazon was a Deluxe edition and she got the the free shipping method that's why it's coming late. But that's okay I'm getting one on Friday/Saturday now. He He. I just feel bad because she pre ordered this book for me back in April. I don't want her to feel like I'm not being greatful. But I can't wait a week for the book either. JKR is doing that interview on the 23rd and I DON'T want to miss it. If I hadn't read the book then I wouldn't be able to watch the interview. I feel bad and it will probably eat me up but I just have to have it. Crazy huh? Oh well I just don't have to say anything right? Then that way I'm not lieing or anything ... just quiet.

Cocaworm - Tell her that you want to keep her wonderful one in pristine condition, that you value the love with which she got you "the Best" one, so you got another that you can read on the beach/in the bathtub/any of the places that it could get dirty or ruined in some way. Make her feel like hers is the most important one and the other one is for beating up. (It's called "sucking up" or "schmoozing". laugh.gif)

LoL! She won't buy it. She'll know I just didn't want to wait. :-P Oh well I'm just not going to tell her I'm getting a book of my own. She knows I'm going to the midnight party since I've never been to one ... so as long as I just don't get too excited about the book.

How awful am I? I teach my kids and the kids at the school not to lie and here I go. LoL! Oh well guess it's not lying unless she ask point blank about it. I'll just try to keep the conversation Saturday off of Harry Potter. (My brother's birthday party and her step son's (Joint party at her house)) :-P

I know I am probably the only one feeling this but the thought just occured to me... "I hope I'm not let down in this book" I mean she has never let me down before and to be honest I've never feared I would be either. I'm just afraid I'm getting to excited and the much hype may lead to disappointment. (Hopefully not!)

Does anyone else have this secret little hidden fear (even if just a small bit of them fears it like my own small bit)?

I worry less about disapointment than shock. I don't like surprises, especially if they are negative, so I read every spoiler I can get my hands on.

One of my favourite fan fic writers has gotten ahold of one of the pirated online copies and has read it already. Since I don't want to spoil it for anyone who doesn't like to know, I won't say what he's said about things (PM me if you want the addy or a condensed version). But I will say that whatever your feelings for OotP or HBP were, this may do the same.

I finished about 16 hours ago, and it took me 12 hours, 37 minutes and 18 seconds to finish it. YES, I actually monitored my reading lol.
And I cried A LOT. I actually cried all throughout the chapter, or 2, when it seemed that Harry would have to die...
I think it's the best book in the series, not sure if it's my favourite yet, but I'll know soon, I'm starting a second read-through tomorrow smile.gif
What does everyone think of it?

it's my third favorite in the whole series (as of my first read through, so it could change) but I liked it as an ending. Not perfect, but nothing ever is, it was very good. I cried my eyes out at one part, I was a mess.

I really like it.

The epilogue was lame and annoying (just like Sam said), but mostly the book was good. I found a few mini-holes (like everyone is interogating eachother as they land at the Burrow after the first problem to make sure they are who they seem to be - except Tonks and Ron when they landed. And actually, that whole decoy idea was beyond dumb...that Harry would allow his best frinds to be decoys, to be possibly attacked in his stead, so goes against his principles, even the end of the book contradicts it.

I want to see the storyline she would have done had she decided to kill off Harry...that could be a very intresting story.

I'm glad Percy came to his senses. It was cruel to split up the twins, though.

She managed to get the police-state feel across really well.

YaY, Neville!

Loved all the Patronuses being hooked to the character. Who would have thought that Aberforth's would be a goat or McGonagall's a cat with "glasses" markings?

I really want to see the scene in the movie with all the Hallowed dead walking with Harry. That was uber-cool.

I am, however, COMPLETELY convinced that someone(s) else wrote large chunks of it.

I have a problem with using colons and semi-colons in contemporary writing... there are places for them, but they should be few and far between. That said ~ There are distinctly separate writing styles in this book, where for a page or several, whoever is writing can't use a period or compund sentence and has to insert about 4 or 5 colons per square inch. Then there will suddenly be a page or several done as she did the first threed books. I would venture a guess that she outlined or roughed out the "colon-ized" parts and handed them to whoever that writer is, and kept her own parts that she'd already finished and liked. They styles are so different it really tripped me up. I actually went through and circled the offending punctuation (there was also a lack of comas in some very obvious places, too). I can glance at a page and tell if it was JKR or Writer #2 by the scattered (or lack of) circled colons.

places that bother me:

I want to know the whole backstory of how Lupin and Tonks got got, or for that matter, what brought him to his senses when he was acting like such a jerk at Grimauld Place. There's a whole bunch of interesting stuff left out about those guys. Their whole story is just shuffled past.

I'm disappointed tat Lupin didn't get to do in Greback.

HOW DARE SHE KILL OFF DOBBY AND HEDWIG!!!!! Those sucked more than any of the other characters being killed.

Mad-Eye wasn't as expendable as she made him. He gets killed and except for the initial page or two there - and the eye on Umbridge's door- he is treated like a Red Shirt. There is also a place fairly early in the story where Harry is going over the ones that died because of him, and comes off REALLY shallow because he doesn't include Hegwig in his listing of important deaths that were his fault, which just hit me as wrong.

Back to Mad-Eye, I wanted to know details of how he got so messed up. We know the one DE tooka piece of his nose, but what about his eye and leg? There has to be a whole huge backstory that wasn't explained that could be really fun to read about.

Why, when the Trio hear that Luna is supposedly been hauled off to Azkaban, are they so unconcerned and disconnected? They goof around out in their camping adventure for quite while, and then only find her by accident. I know they are on a mission, but this a friend and fellow DA member that they are leaving to suffer.

Why wasn't Voldemort's flying without aid of brooms, etc., explained? That could have been pretty cool. Snakes don't usually fly, so how did he get that ability?

Why weren't we given the satisfaction of seeing Umbridge sitting in Azkaban, or doing a Hitler-in-the-bunker?

Scrimgeour is pretty much Red Shirted. Why ? That could have been done much better.

Where did Lily & James get the inheritance Harry got? How did they and Frank & Alice "trice defy the Dark Lord"?

Why was everyone wandering around without wands? Lily & James at GH, Harry every time he turned around, half the people wandering the countryside, etc...

Yup, I liked it a lot, but she didn't tie up all the loose ends I wanted to know about...
