Er... the riddle is really wierd. I've got some ideas about what the numbers might mean, but I'm really not sure. Is there some way we can get a hint? Please?

A stray baby dragon has melted the delicate mechenism in the voting booth with a careless bout of sneezing.

The booth will be opperational again starting on the thirteenth. Voting for this round will therefore be open from the thirteenth until the seventeenth.

I was walking down the 4th floor corridor the other day and bumped into a house elf. As I was helping her to her feet she told me that NO STOAT HAS FIGURED OUT THE CODE yet!!!

Right in the topic for this round which isn't the discussion topic, in other words, the only other place this round you can post. I can't believe Albus is doing any of this, seems a waste of time to me - I voted we simply stash the mirror in the Chamber of Secrets and let it and any future Basilisks battle it out. Stupid Albus, stupid contest, stupid muggles...

Of course, the whole letter is quite rude and frankly uncalled for, since all of you are smart enough to figure out where to post, right? I thought so.

You have no idea how many owls are on my desk right now! I even got a howler from Filch who's apparently miffed that the corridor he didn't have to clean anymore will have to be fixed up for students again. (How he managed a Howler is beyond me. Maybe the twins helped.)

For instance, this morning McGonnagal sent one trying to explain that something called Electromagnistatic Waves are causing the pictures she sent of her chess set not to trasnmutate when transferred to digital format... Frankly, I've no idea what she's talking about. She forgets, sometimes, that I'm a muggle, I suppose. Hopefully I'll be able to clear that up with her sometime.

Then, I got this:

It comes to my attention that you Muggles can't do anything reasonably. For some reason as yet unexplained your only book on the wizarding world comes in different editions by country even if not a translation! You'd think a lot of time and frustration such as this would be saved by printing one in each language, but then again we're talking about a society that hasn't even discovered Electromagnistatic Waves yet. At any rate:
If you're not using the American edition, (Scholastic, either hardcover or paperback) then bother Department_of_Mysteries about it for an alternate riddle, since I certainly haven't time to come up with another one.
It is, after all, their copy I borrowed from them to come up with this idiocy.

We in the department should of course, have realized that Ferrets are far too special to use just one edition. (It's all Snape's fault, though!) So if you're using a different edition, don't drive yourself batty looking at the numbers because they won't make any sense. PM us (click on the conveniant PM button located on this post...) and you will recieve an equivilant puzzle to solve.

One ferret has already recieved and solved this, and six ferrets have solved the main riddle. Two ferrets have posted a submission. Zero stoats have solved the riddle - come on, you three!

The posting box ate my punctuation, but it left little tiny boxes in its place. How quaint. Unfortunately, I have to be at work in a few hours, which means I should probably sleep. Otherwise, I start growling at customers, something which the management tends to frown on. I give up for now, but I may fix it tomorrow, if I get the chance--I'm sorry!

Yay! Two hours before midnight my time, and my submission is in! ... this is why Sarako shouldn't leave things until the last second. *yawn* Unless someone's even better at procrastinating than I am (though I'd certainly believe it possible) then we may have the final line-up of stories. I suppose we'll see tomorrow, right?

Department Timepieces are notoriously faulty, but we do believe we have only slightly more than one hour to go before submissions close. (We did inform the Supply Office that Doxie Dust made hourglasses unstable, but did they listen? No... ) Amazingly, not all ferrets who solved the riddle submitted a story! You know who you are... and the Department knows who YOU are. We know you can write amazing things in an hour.
