Keep in mind this is my first attempt at the Ferret Pensieve, so please be kind if it doesn't come out the way I intended.

Part 1

Night it was, on Privet Drive
As street lights went to dark.
In the street, there stood a man
His lighter hid a spark.

On number four, there rest a house.
This man strode toward the home.
He had a beard; he stood quite tall.
But he was not alone.

A cat in shadows grew to life.
A woman she became.
Minerva McGonagle waits
To meet the boy of fame.

They exchanged words. They saw the sky.
A twinkle in the night.
When down from heavens came a bike
Shining oh so bright.

Upon a giant rested.
It's one that you can't fear.
Handing Harry over,
Hagrid shed a tear.

McGonagle has questions
Of which Dumbledore eases.
The Dursleys are not the kindest,
But family still pleases.

They leave a note, as well as he,
The boy that lived that night.
He's taken in, but with remorse.
With Dumbledore they plight.

Nonetheless, the boy who lived
Did not live all that much.
He does not have true family
And only dreams of such.

He sleeps in one enclosed space
That rests under the stairs.
And the parents love Dudley,
They're devoted to his cares.

It was on this Dudley's birthday,
To the zoo Dursleys take,
Dudley and Harry as well
Where he talks to a snake.

It's only afterwards, at home
When owls all appear
With letters addressed for Harry
To come to school this year.

A school for wizards, witches too
And magic things galore,
But he won't find out till they're in
A house on stormy shores.

It's here when his whole life changes
As Hagrid comes again.
It's only been eleven years
But Harry learns it then.

The truth about his parents.
His past, his power, his life.
So why is it that he has had
To suffer through this strife?

He wants to go to Hogwarts
And be taught by Dumbledore.
With that, Harry follows Hagrid
Promptly out the door...

End of Part 1

A journey, Harry starts to take
With Hagrid by his side.
They soon reach "The Leaky Cauldron"
Where wizards all abide.

Proffesor Quirrell stutters much
A strange impression made.
What lies beneath that large turban,
An odder, purple shade.

And at the back, there rests a room
And solid wall of brick.
It opens to reveal a street
Containing such magic!

The shops are filled with people
And the windows filled with dreams.
Broomwstick, wands, and magic books
Tempt passerby with gleams.

At Olivands, the boy will wait
As Hagrid runs some "errands".
He walks on in, he tests out wands
But none are good in his hands.

Nonetheless, there comes a wand
That's different from the rest.
It turns out to be perfect
It turns out to be best.

And it's curious that this wand,
To Harry it belongs,
Is brother of the killer's
Of those for which he longs.

Later, when they're eating
With a new owl too,
Harry hears some history
That is all too true.

A wizard Voldemort,
He-who-must-not-be-named,
Murdered Harry's parents
But left a boy that's famed.

Harry caused reversal
Of Voldemort's dark spell.
Today he might still be
Alive but not that well.

A spirit of some sort.
Neither alive nor dead.
Struggling to survive.
Uses others instead.

Harry's scar is a marking
Of that day when "he" died.
One day he might return,
Right now he needs to hide.

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

The duo reach the train station
A ticket's strange address
Points Harry in direction
Of nothing he can guess.

Platform 9 and 3 Quarters
Really can't exist.
But Hagrid has left him.
He stands in confused mist.

A ray of hope soon shines down
As his eye meets a group,
(he later learns) The Weasleys,
And joins their little troup.

He learns how to get inside,
By running through a wall.
And boarding the train all alone
He wanders through it's hall.

He takes a seat and waits.
As the train begins to move.
He can feel the wheels turning
Inside all their groves.

The Hogwarts Express begins
It's long journey of sorts.
The boy is set, the train is gone
Next stop, is Hogwarts!

And so begins the tale of old
With Harry on his way.
The school awaits the old Express
By the end of day.

Upon the train he meets a boy
Whose hair is red as flame.
The name is Ron, he is amazed
As he meets boy of fame.

The trolley comes, and Harry's cash
Obtained from bank, Gringotts,
Will soon put poor Ron in luck
Harry: "We'll take the lot!"

Chocolate frogs are jumping
Bertie botts taste of ears.
Pumpkin Pasties and a card:
Dumbledore...disappears.

And as the day goes onward,
A girl they both do meet.
A genius of her own age,
Hermione they do greet.

The boys change into their robes,
As night's hold starts to take.
And by the time the train comes,
The first years cross the lake.

A castle lies before them,
Towering above.
This school will play Harry's home.
A home he'll learn to love.

And upon first arrival,
Each first year will soon hear
The speech from McGonagol
About houses this year.

There's Gryffindor and others:
Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw,
And Slytherin, the house that
Contains wizards with "flaws".

Slytherin for evil.
Slytherin for mean.
Slytherin for Malfoy:
An annoying pre-teen.

When sorted into houses,
"Gryffindor!" a hat sorts.
A place where Harry can live,
And meet with his cohorts.

And at the opening feast,
It's here we meet a snake.
A man who wants Quirrel's job,
A potions teacher, Snape.

Later on we find Harry
Entering his new dorm
Which rests beyond a portrait
Of woman, large in form.

Sleeping soundly in bed,
Harry knows the next day
Will be quite as magical
In every single way.

And as the adventure unfolds,
Slowly things come to pass.
But within the time between facts
There's always time for class.

Transfiguration is taught
By McGonagol's self.
Harry and Ron come late
And a cat leaps from shelf.

This cat has been seen before,
That night in Privet Drive.
No other than McGonagol
Who shows the students live.

"Bloody brilliant," Ron speaks true,
As McGonagol glares.
She makes a point about the time
Amidst the boys' great stares.

And soon we come upon one more
The snake we've learned about.
The potions class might seem a bore
But one has not lucked out.

Snape has an eye on Potter
From the very start.
And when Harry just takes some notes...
He learns of Snape's cold heart.

Snape ponders him with questions
About magical facts.
Naturally, Harry knows none
(Hermione won't relax).

And later in the large Great Hall
We learn nothing of school.
But that a bank was robbed one day.
A vault Harry'd been to.

He had gone there with Hagrid.
He wasn't supposed to
Speak of it to anyone.
Even me and you.

What was inside that vault
Was ever oh so small.
With security and secrecy
What wizards cared at all?

As we go on with magic
And we continue fun,
We take a flying lesson
Made for everyone.

Madam Hooch is teaching,
"Up" is a command,
It's simple enough: say the word
While reaching out with hand.

One student had bad luck,
As his broom flew away
While in a very poor attempt
At mounting it that day.

Neville Longbottom,
The boy who lost his toad,
Sat atop that rogue broomstick
And on and on he rode.

And when it crashed much later,
His arm is what was broke.
Madam Hooch left them alone,
To Miss Pomfrey, takes bloke.

It only took some seconds
For Malfoy to take hold
Of what was Neville's object.
A "rememberall" we're told.

He hops upon his own broom,
And takes it for a spin.
And only Harry Potter
Could go and confront him.

Draco tosses the ball
Far into the sky.
Harry sets off soaring.
How'd he learn to fly?

He catches the ball on time,
And hears his classmates' cry.
They all came running towards him.
He caught another's eye.

And very soon he's whisked away
By Minerva like that.
He's following quite close behind
The tall and elder cat.

Good things start to happen
But beware the third floor.
For even in the brightest times
Darkness can occur...

The story soon continues;
we meet Oliver Wood
Who knows the game of Quidditch,
as every player should.

"Quidditch is easy enough,
to understand," he speaks.
There's bludgers, quaffles, snitches...
(of which you must go seek).

You're job is to catch the snitch,
The little golden ball.
It's wicked fast; worth one-fifty
And always ends it all.

But before the game's over,
The three hoops at each end
Will have quaffles thrown through them
While keepers must defend.

All the while, beaters are
Smacking those bludgers too.
Make sure to dodge them quickly
Or they'll run into you.

After Harry learns the ropes,
Schoolwork is somewhat fun.
And one day in charms class,
Hermione out-does Ron.

The spell is to levitate
Objects big and small.
Each student starts with feathers
No one gets it at all.

Except for that one student.
Miss Granger is her name.
Nonetheless no feathers move.
Seamus sets his aflame.

Ron tries so desperately
"Wingardium Levio-
sa" he says, quite troubled.
Pronunciation, though.

Hermione says it just right
And shows the class her stuff.
She did it just to show off
And now Ron's in a huff.

He makes fun of her to friends.
She soon runs off in tears.
Little does she know that she'll
Be faced by bigger fears.

It was on that night's dinner
It just happened to be
The Halloween feast (scrumptious). smile.gif
But a troll, one could see.

Quirrel came in shouting loud
In the great dining hall.
A troll was in the dungeon
And then he made a fall.

As everyone soon panicked
And left "single filedly"
No one knew that the troll was
Heading towards Hermione

Harry and Ron arrived quick
And right on time for help.
Hermone was in the stalls
And all she did was yelp.

The troll took his club backwards
And swung at stalls again.
Ron threw some small rubble
And got attention then.

Hermione left the stalls soon
And headed for the sink
The troll soon noticed the move
And Harry had to think.

As Hermione crawled from clubs
And Harry acted fast,
He jumped upon the club and
Didn't think he'd last.

As the troll attacked Harry,
It's Ron who saved the day
He knew what he had to do
And what he had to say.

He made the club levitate
Over the troll's small head
And as it came crashing down
He put that troll to bed.

The three of them were all safe
But the troll was knocked out.
Harry soon got his wand back
From wedged inside it's snout.

The teachers all arrived soon
And five points were given
Towards the Gryffindor house
But no one knew it then.

No one knew why the troll came
Or Quirrel's confusion.
Except one other person
And Harry's onto him.

Snape appeared with the teachers
And guess what Harry saw:
The blood upon Snape's long leg
Left him in confused awe.

But that night the three slept well
No reason for sorrow,
For more stories would be made...
Quidditch was tomorrow.

Long and boring this poem is
While I tell stories told.
We soon reach a turning point
On one day very cold.

Mr. Potter mounts his broom
He flies up in the sun.
Quaffle, snitch, bludgers release
The game has just begun.

At first the game runs quite smooth
As Gryffindor takes lead.
The Slytherins are desperate.
With twenty points they need.

Desperation causes acts
And Wood soon takes a fall.
Courtesy of Slytherin
Who doesn't care at all.

Yet it does not just stop there.
No. Angelina too.
The Slytherins are soon tied up
Harry knows what to do.

The snitch is found. He speeds by.
But something is not right.
His broom starts to tremor much
And so begins the fight.

Tossing, turning, he slips off.
His hands keep him upright.
Hermione spots the problem.
Snape has cursed Harry's flight.

She soon ends the dilemma
With a bit of fire.
Harry swings back on his broom
And soars a bit higher.

He finds the snitch one more time
But so has Slytherin.
The snitch dives down; so do they.
It's a race for the win.

Pulling up, Slytherin leaves
Afraid of hitting ground.
Harry reaches much closer;
Levels out with no sound.

He stands upon the Nimbus
Given just at breakfast.
With hand reached out, he steps once
And to the grass falls fast.

He starts to choke. What is this?
Is he sick or bewitched?
He spits out a golden ball.
The little golden snitch. smile.gif
