I think I may have a problem with my submission, as someone has pointed out 'spelling/grammar' errors. I use UK spellings and grammar, whilst everyone else here seems to use American English. I guess I didn't realise this is a board populated exclusively by US folks. I've adopted UK English for HP FanFic, since it is set in the UK. I'll try to do better next challenge. blush2.gif

I know the feeling. I live in Canada, and we use UK Spellings. Even my computer tells me that the American spellings are wrong. Oh well. I personally accept both spellings when I'm rating. I hoped others would do the same but maybe that's not the case. :/

We do, of course, love UK grammar. That is, when it doesn't broadside us from the middle of nowhere and catch us off guard. HP is after all, a British story, and we would do well to love and adore Brit grammar and spelling to the best of our ability.

I'm sure the people who pointed out an error were trying to be helpfull. Sure, we know HP is British, but I defy anybody from the US not to look askance at a sentance like:
'Harry, Azkaban is the Wizard Gaol!' said Ron.

Now, I do like consistancy, however. If sub one, for example, spelled center that way, and sub two starts using centre instead, it looks strange.

.... We could go on about differences and whatnot all day. But that's besides the point.

The point is, that British is good, and we love it, though we don't always recognize it for what it is. (Just as I'm sure a British reader occasionally can't make head or tail out of a sentance I could right. "Put the tomatoes in that spider," perhaps.)

All in all: HURRAH for the Second Round.

let me make sure I have this right. the more icons I find the more points I will recieve with my submision.
for example if I have a score of 8 and joe bob has a score of 4. if joe bob finds more icons than I do (joe bob dosen't work like me, he has all the time in the world to be on his computer) So joe bob finds 6 icons and I only have time to find 2 now we are tied and only because joe bob found more icons than me. If my story is better than joe bob's and we are tied that is just sick and wrong. Sounds like a serious disadvantage for me our anyone else that has a full time job.
just letting you know how this dosen't seem right. not that I have a chance to win, but this finding icons dosen't feel like it will be FAIR.

According to the mission, those icons' mission elements have to be used well, or points can be taken away! So no, chances are that if Joe Bob finds more icons but writes very poorly, you'll still do better in this round.

And finding the icons isn't very time consuming. I think you'll find they're pretty easy to find in the 3rd task.

I'm not!
It's a good thing I have a week for this. It's 2am. I am going to bed.
Despite what you may hear, many of us Brits need sleep. Good luck to everyone in their icon searching!

I've not got the hang of it either, Amaranth. I'm going thread by thread, starting with what appear to be recent postings and haven't found a thing. Of course, when you live in the boonies and have only dial up, it takes forever! I'm not even sure what I'm looking for. sad.gif

I have now gotten completely and thoroughly lost in this whole tri-ferret tournament because of a silly thing they call school. I did find an icon for the first mission but had to push off writing my submission in favour of writing a 12 page essay and studying for a midterm exam (among other smaller, less significant things).

It has, however been interesting reading this entire thread from the first post on page 1 to the post directly above mine.

After Christmas I should be back in your hair again, then you won't be able to get rid of me!

Azgard! We're glad you survived tests-and-papers time!

And to everyone, including Azgard ~

VOTE and comment on the subs in Round Three, even if you didn't have time to write!

Congratulations on essay survival! 12 Pages! *shudders* Hope you were lucky enough to have an interesting subject! Looking forward to reading more of your spiffing fan ficlets.

I can't wait to read everyone's subs from this round. There will be some interesting plot rollercoasters!

due to lots of little cousins, thanksgiving, and the price of the so called "free internet" I may not be able to submit my third task entry. *wails uncontrolably* but good luck to all those who do! bye.gif

blink.gif But, LupinsMyMan, it doesn't need to be submitted until late Monday night.

[Plus ~ If enough Ferrets asked for an extention, that has been know to happen, too.]

I'm working on my sub as we speak. I hope to get it done quickly, but the holiday and the fact that I work Thursday, Friday and Saturday (night shift - *dies*) is gonna make me cut it close too... so if extensions are possible... whistle.gif hehe

*keeps plugging away*
