Just to let everyone know - I'll be off until the end of April. Am heading to Virginia to visit my Marine son, and he wants us to stay through his birthday. Will check in if I get an opportunity.

Everyone - I'm thinking that if Timeturner is going to take us until they get on the train, then I'm going to start working on London and the Quidditch match. I'll make changes to mine after she's done, but it shouldn't be too hard. What say you all? It might speed this up if people are working on sections without waiting for the previous installment to finish.

In case anyone was wondering about the Freddy/Lily whispering session. I don't know what they were whispering about. I thought I would put it in and if someone wanted to do something with it...?

Great post, Timeturner. I've posted the rest of Chapter 11 that I've been working on.

Here are some notes about the end of Chapter 11:

Countries of origin (and genders) for the IQF Governors. I envision the board as having 25 members, so obviously there are more of them.
Lloyd Bangough – Wales (UK) - M
Francesco Brunelli – Italy - M
Kostya Shishkova – Russia - M
Shin Kyung-Soon – Korea - M
Ramla Akukweti – Tanzania - F
Trent Davidson – USA - M
Moira McKirk – Scotland (UK) - F
Harry Potter – England (UK) - M
Gerry Hindle – England (UK) - M

Roster for the English and Italian Quidditch teams:
England:
C - Hilton
C - Jameson
C - Kerry
B - Wendt
B - Larkin
K - Samuelson
S - Hartman

Italy:
C - Rossi
C - Marino
C - Conti
B - Lombardo
B - Giordano
K – De Luca
S - Costa

Excellent posts, both of you! I love the Bertie Botts Beans for breakfast bit.

Great work on the match, Agrippa! There are a couple of minor spelling things ('missing an s on a plural' sort of thing; I'll go through it again tomorrow) and James told Gerry Hindle that Jacobsom taught Charms rather than Transfiguration. Otherwise, awesome!

edit: ^I think I got everything.

I'm not sure where Clyde is... hope you're well, wherever you are. unsure.gif

So, I guess I shall call it for the first half of chapter 12, up to when James & Philip leave each other for the holiday.

I have finally read the Plot Outline and the edited story and I think it's brilliant!!

Just one thought, the Quidditch season hasn't started in the story yet, while it is supposed to have started already. Maybe one of the Quidditch matches could take place on Halloween seeing how not much happened, but, if you still want to have Philip "ignorant" and to have never seen a Quidditch match, perhaps it could be interrupted(or is thta too much COS-like), because they can't find Lockhart anywhere. And maybe they find him in the Forbidden Forest in the end. unsure.gif

Oh and just a little bit about the scene where the adults are stuck in the Great Hall(which is a really ingenious idea), maybe the students could try to send owls, before thinking of the kitchen-solution, but of course the owls can't enter, because the blocking charm works on the windows too. This isn't really important, but sometimes while reading you get these ideas like, "Why didn't they try this or that?" so if in future, other people are going to read this, putting that idea as an impossible-solution would help to clarify some stuff. :/

To be honest, I thought it more fitting if Jacobson were sent to Azkaban. That would also blow his cover on the story which Gerry was telling James back at the World Cup. Personally, I don't think Lockhart is capable of doing something really bad like that, unless Jacobson was perhaps using the Imperius Curse on him.

This is just my idea. I don't want to seem like I'm ruining the plot or anything because it's absolutely amazing and I know how much you all must have worked hard to get it all set.

And by the way, I was teaming with Italy throughout the whole Quidditch Match. tongue.gif wink.gif

Yep... according to the calendar there are two Quidditch matches before Christmas. Since none of the major characters are playing, I didn't think we'd want to give blow-by-blow descriptions, just as in the books we don't get descriptions of the non-Gryffindor games. But Philip would certainly have seen a match by Christmas.

Good idea! Hopefully, whoever writes that section can add that in.

Hmmm... can you say more about why J. should go to Azkaban? We don't really say in the plot outline what happens to him.

I'd be interested to hear everyone else's thoughts about an Imperius curse. It would require, I think, a significant restructuring of the plot.

Thanks for your comments! I hope you'll jump in and write!

I think I may have missed something so please forgive me, but what are Jacobson and his wife presenting to the Council?

I got a little confused when I read the end of the plot outline because in chapter XXII, Lockhart is speaking to someone? Or is he just speaking to himself? So up till that moment I was still thinking that Jacobson was behind it all. Yesterday I got an idea like Wiles gave Lockhart a wit-sharpening potion(or a polyjuice potion gone wrong) because she pitied him and the way students make fun of him in class, but she's not too good at potion-making and the potion makes him act evil in a way, but he doesn't know what he's doing.

You know maybe I'm getting this all wrong with Jacobson. Perhaps I thought he's more evil than he's supposed to be in the story. I try to put it in my head that the reason Jacobson is at Hogwarts is to watch over Lockhart, punto e basta. But for reason I keep going over that and thinking he's up to something else. What that is...I still need to figure out. <_<

The ending is very very important to a story, and I know you guys can probably say that more than I can, but I felt like the story was suddenly all rushed and in need to end, kind of. The basic outline is really really good, I mean it's a really great story so kudos to all you guys, and I'm really looking forward to writing in this.

The Jacobson-Lockhart backstory is in Lockhart's character profile, which makes it hard to find. I'm going to copy it to here:

QUOTE
The Lockhart-Jacobson Backstory

Jacobson, working as a Healer on St. Mungo’s closed ward, tries an experimental unapproved cure on Lockhart. Lockhart appears restored to his original mental capacities – remembering everything – for a couple of weeks, but then lapses back into to a more befuddled state, having decided that being a bit of a half-brain he will be better able to exact his revenge.

Jacobson, although he is mystified by the relapse, decides that Lockhart is well enough to leave St. Mungo’s. Jacobson’s wife, Alison Wiles, has just taken a job as the astronomy teacher at Hogwarts, and through her he discovers that there’s an opening for a charms teacher that the headmistress is having difficulty filling it. He suggest to Lockhart that he apply.

McGonagall is in dire straits for a Charms teacher. Although she has reservations about his abilities, she also feels guilty about what happened to him during his previous tenure at Hogwarts. She gives him the job.

Jacobson becomes worried that Lockhart might either spill the beans about his illegal cure or might have a more serious relapse. Wiles assures him that she will keep an eye on Lockhart, but Jacobson continues to worry. He decides to quit his job and move to Hogwarts with his wife. Wiles argues that it will seem very suspicious for a high-profile healer to just up and quit his job. Knowing that the current Transfiguration teacher has been thinking about a sabbatical, she convinces him/her to take it this year. When McGonagall starts looking for a replacement, Wiles suggests her husband, and the deal is sealed.

Lockhart, of course, is only pretending to be muddled. In reality, he's using it as a cover to plot his return to fame...

He has at least one puffskein around him all the time, usually provided to him by Wiles & Jacobson (for their soothing nature, as part of his cure and recovery) and by Luna, who just thinks he loves them.

It that illegal cure that Jacobson is presenting to the council. Of course, he's not mentioning that he's already tried it on somone. Does that make sense?
