Round One ~ The Floo-Between Chat, Potterverse members only Options

We understand there has been a cross over between our internet and the Wizarding World's Floo Sharing Network. While the Ministry works on that problem, feel free to chat amongst yourselves here about the situation and whatever else you like. Rest assured that this topic is off limits to members who are not from the Potterverse, so you'll not be subjected to requests for autographs and such by the non-Potterverse members.

(Administrators may post answers to your questions regarding the Duel, but we'll behave, we promise.)

We do have rules about content, so please be sure to post material that agrees with the Project Ferret Site Guidelines.



Note to ferrets: This topic belongs to the Potterverse and is for character chat only. Characters may chat as much as they wish for this challenge. Please stay in character and do not add any out-of-character comments to your posts.

The Poll for "Favorite Floo-Between Chat Performance" will open on Wednesday, November 24th in the Floo-Between Forum. This topic will close at noon Central on that day.

Posts which are not prefaced by the Character Form will be deleted.

When you post, you'll see a button (up by the "code" and "list" buttons) that says "blank character form." If you press that button, the form will appear in your post. Just edit in your character's details and put the body of your text in the middle. If you've chosen not to use a signature for your character, delete that part of the form.

Wotcher Wisteria! What's going on? (sorry about breaking that vase). I think this setup is awesome, even if I dont quite understand the interactions with the fireplaces and the 'computers.'

Hello out there. Does anyone have any thoughts on how this crossover could have happened? It all seems very suspicious to me. I am sure I saw a book in the library last week detailing the intricacies of the Floo Network. I wonder if it would be of any use.

Hi! So Dad just set up this, computer, I think that's what Harry called it. Funny sort of thing really, don't know exactly what muggles would use it for, bit of a pain actually. Harry of course doesn't understand why it has to be in the fireplace for the whole communication thing to work, and he thinks I'm crazy for not understanding what was it ... the bit about the internet? Well, Go Cannons!!

Oops, well it's dad you know? It's for work really! Honest! The computer's just like a box with letters on buttons and moving pictures. No big deal, dad's using that instead of scrolls so he can help find where the whole overlap of the floo between and the in-ter-net (I think) is.

Actually, a computer is a programmable electronic device that can store, retrieve, and process data. My parents have one in their office. It is really quite useful.

As for the internet, well, that is an electronic communications network that connects computer networks and organizational computer facilities around the world. It is very similar to the Floo Network.

You can not actually travel through the internet as you can through the Floo Network. However, the internet is silimar in principle to the Floo Network because both enable connected users with the ability to share and exchange communications with one another.
