~ ANNOUNCEMENT ~

Your Formidible Ferrets have discovered a possible glitch in the way the new software could tabulate votes. This possible problem hasn't thus far affected any winners, thank goodness, so we're eliminating the 'vote factor' now to avoid later headaches. Sorry for any confusion.

We're also changing the voting booth so that you may only see comments on a submission after you've voted on it.

Questions-

I accidentally goofed in the Bubblehead booth and cast my vote without leaving a comment on one of the stories. Oops. Anyways I noticed that my avatar didn't appear showing I had voted when I went back to see what everyone else thought. (There is the * next to the story showing I voted on it already) Also I couldn't see what everyone else thought- I'm pretty sure from looking at the standings that ferrets have voted but I didn't see any comments from anyone or anyone else's avatar showing they voted.

Also I noticed the same thing in the other booth. I voted on Water Worries, the story was listed in the standings as having been voted upon but when I went back my comment is the only one I can see.

Am I looking in the wrong spot or am I just a bit confused or both? blink.gif

Interestingly enough, I did something similar. What I see is, where I left a comment, I can see both mine and timeturner's. Where I failed to leave a comment, but voted only, I see nothing.

Personally, this could possibly be classified as a 'feature' not a 'bug' - tongue.gif sorry, programming humor! - because it would encourage leaving comments, rather than just voting. If you want to see what others say, you need to say something yourself!

laugh.gif I don't think this 'feature' was exactly what we had in mind. I'm sure Agrippa will look into this very soon. What should happen is this:
  • You cannot see comments until you have voted
  • Once you've voted, you can see all comments about the submission
  • If you haven't left a comment, your avatar will no longer show up with a blank comment space

By the way,

Submissions are now closed for Round Two!

Sorry so late! Voting will continue until Thursday September 23 at approximately 10am Central. Around noon Thursday the new mission will be up and the winner announced!

Thanks Evlpez!

BTW I love the idea of not being able to see comments until after you have voted. Its much more fun to see you have left a similar comment and shared the opinion of another ferret afterwards. It keeps us all under the impression that we are original thinkers for as long as possible. tongue.gif

I think that's exactly what timeturner and I experienced! At least, it's exactly what I saw. She and I both failed to leave a comment on the same submission, because there are only 2 so far, and we each had a comment on the second sub, so nothing would show up on the first, since there are no comments on that one as yet.

So it sounds like we both saw what we should see.

That'll teach me to wait for a bigger sample before drawing conclusions! wink.gif

Okay... so there have been no comments left, then? So, nothing to see. That explains it. wink.gif

Announcement:

We've edited the voting software again, just a wee thing, really. We can see our own subs and the comments left for us, but we're no longer allowed to rate our own submissions (Just like the Potter Project wink.gif).

Announcement:

There may have been some misunderstanding about the submissions deadline time. It's completely my fault, as I didn't specify whether we were running on Central time or Mountain time.

We do try to run all Official Project Ferret Duels on Central time, but McG's Cat and I are on Mountain time, so the little challenges we issue often run on Mountain time.

So to cover my butt and make sure everyone has a chance to submit their finished work, I've re-opened the Round 3 and Bubblehead Charms submission topics. They will remain open until 3:00pm Central time. (That's 2pm Mtn, right? wink.gif)

I apologize for the confusion! I'll be more careful with the instructions in future.

The rest of the duel (voting, that is) will continue on an altered schedule.
The voting booths for both Round 3 and Bubblehead Charms will remain open until Friday October 1 at noon Central time.
