Hi everyone! I'm so excited that you're here. Vlad, Evlpez, and I have been working hard to kick this project off, and I think it's going to be a lot of fun.

I thought this would be a good place to allow people to tell us about themselves. So, I live in Austin, Texas. I teach Latin at a private Episcopal school. I'm really involved in the Junior Classical League, which is the nation's largest academic student organization - we set up contests and conventions for kids who study Latin and ancient Greek. I like to cook and read (duh!). I am a certified personal trainer, and I work out about four days a week - this term I'm running a conditioning class after school. I'm also an assistant coach for a high school hockey team.

I first read Harry Potter when a teacher at my previous school said we shouldn't have it in the library because it's satanic. (It's not, but you knew that.) Been hooked ever since. I was in Italy with some of my students when Order of the Phoenix came out, and so I bought it (the Bloomsbury edition) at a bookstore in the old Campus Martius.

I think I also hold the distinction of making the finals of the Potter Project more times than anyone else who didn't win a round. I made the finals in four rounds. (I'm writing this before the last round ends, so I may be made a liar soon.)

Have fun! And let me know if you see anything buggy; I'll try to fix it.

Hi everyone.
I live in Alberta Canada. I'm a wife and stay-at-home mother of 2 children, a 2-1/2 year old girl (Maeve) and a 5 month old boy (Liam). I am nowhere near as busy as Agrippa - at least with things that take me out of the house. My time is mostly spent hanging out with my kids - also big book lovers, God love them. (Or is that God help them?)
I'm a book lover (also duh) and music lover and sometimes musician (not playing in a band at the moment.) I also collect PEZ Dispensers (I have about 400 on display in my home), and I enjoy sewing when I find the time and motivation (mostly clothes for my kids).
I first discovered Harry Potter well after the Prisoner Of Azkaban when I heard about the mania these books have inspired. Once I started, I couldn't stop. While waiting for Order Of The Phoenix to be released, I discovered fanfiction online and read voraciously. Until the Potter Project, I had never written any of my own. (You can blame me for complicating things with the addition of Neville Longbottom.)
I'm really looking forward to writing and reading here at Project Ferret.

Edit: By the way, my 'official duties' here include Mod'ing The Order Of The Ferret and Ferret Fun, Fluff & Flattery.

More Edit: I just read this again and realised I haven't really told you much about my past. Here goes. I grew up acting and singing on stage, went to college for Theatre Arts Performance and was a professional actor for a while. I decided I liked being able to afford food in my fridge and I took a job as a security officer in a large inner city hospital. I really dug that, so I took correspondence courses and got a diploma in Law Enforcement, which did me no good as I really don't like the idea of carrying a gun for a living. When my husband and I married, we moved to his hometown where I was unable to get work in the security field, so I took up delivering pizza, then serving tables - which I enjoyed very very much (not kidding). We played together in a band for several years (pop/alt.rock/jazz/ska/reggae/folk/punk kinda thing). For a break from slinging pizzas, I went to work at a small 'mom & pop' printshop where I ran printing presses. After a time, I realized I need to be around people, so I went back to serving tables until I went on maternity leave with our daughter. I've been home ever since.

This my friends is AWESOME.

My name is Katie, I live in Schaumburg IL. I am currently starting (very slowly) a video production company out of my house titled KTVideo Production. I specialize in performance videography, but I have been working on a ferret documentary which is where that silly picture came from of the ferret in a wizard outfit! I am also a part time dance teacher.

Chamber of Secrets was the first book I ever read cover to cover. (scary isnt it?) I always hated reading and never seemed to find the time for it. Now, I have read all of the HP books several times, I listen to HP in the car, I watch HP when I am cleaning house, I read HP before I go to bed, I use HP music in my dance classes, and ever since the Potter Project, I have been webbing HP in all spare minutes of the day! Looks like that is going to continue! =D I am studying to become a real witch (wiccan, started that before reading hp) and I have collaborated HP into many aspects of my life in one way or another. I am so amazed that you all have started this and I am so thrilled to be invited to be a part of it!

Thanks so much!!!

Mwahahahaha, I was accepted to a sort of exclusive group, I feel so special, oh ya! I'm supposed to be introducing myself. Okay, in case you haven't noticed I have the attention span of a five year old.

Let's see, I am originally from Independence, Missouri, but currently I am residing in Springfield, Missouri trying to get my college education. I am an English Literature major, I have yet to figure out what I'm going to do with that major, because supposedly it's only good for prelaw and I could never go to law school. I'm minoring in both art and French, so that I can either work as a designer for a magazine or I can move to France and teach them English. Oooooh it would be really cool if I could be a set designer or a screenplay writer, now I want to work in the movie biz, I'll have to go look into that now. I am a huge HP fan, I am also very fond of the LOTR series.

Luckily for me, I am rooming with a friend from back home while I am here, even more luckily she is a big Harry Potter fan, so I don't have to hide my addictions from her. In fact she encourages them, although she beats me back into shape when my weirdness gets out of hand.

Hmmm, what more can I say? I have two jobs here at school and one back home, so that I can afford my college experience. Here in Springfield I proctor tests for students with disabilities and I work at a Veggietales kiosk at the local mall. Back home I am a page at a library, I have to shelve books and microfilm. It's a very dull, job but when we run out of things to shelve, I sit at a table cutting out newspaper articles or whatever odd jobs they give me to do. While I'm doing that I can usually manage to read a book.

I have been a Harry Potter fan since...I can't remember, I think it was the spring before Goblet of Fire came out. I read the first three books and immediately became a diehard fan. I was there the night the fourth book came out, I don't have an HP costume yet because I'm not much of a seamstress but I'm trying to talk my roommate into making me one, if you haven't seen her Avatar on Snitchseeker, she and another friend are wearing exact replicas of the Hogwarts Uniforms that they made themselves, I am very jealous and she continually has to stop me from stealing hers.

Wow, I'm rambling, I was only supposed to introduce myself, not tell my life story. Okay, this is me and I'll go explore the rest of this wonderfully inspired site.

Hi ~

I'm jan. I live in northwest Vermont. My nickname is Vlad after Vlad Tepes, Count Dracula although I do not have a "vampire thing". It's one of those nicknames that got applied years ago for obscure (but at the time funny) reasons and it stuck. There are people that only know me as Vlad, I get regular snailmail for Vlad (just Vlad - like Sting, Prince, and Madonna I need no second name), and I tend to sign anything creative as Vlad, leaving "jan" for my professional life.

My profession, when I became Vlad, was as a systems programmer for IBM. I did that for 12 years and then jumped ship, took a vow of poverty, and became a social worker. I currently work in a residential setting with kids who have "emotional and behavioral" issues. You can cram a lot of problems under that umbrella and we get a wide variety of kids anywhere from 5 to 14 years old. I work nights (I love working nights, it's part of the Vlad thing) and most nights it's quiet and I can use my little old laptop to do things like The Potter Project. And then there are the other nights which more than make up for getting paid on the easy nights.

Away from work I live in a very small house I built myself (vows of poverty don't allow for things like mortgages) with 5 dogs, 3 cats, 1 rat, and one fish. I'm a justice of the peace for the town I live in (yes, I can perform marriages and "civil unions"), I'm on the board for a couple non-profits, I treasurer of the English Shepherd Club, do the layout for their newsletter, and take in dogs with "emotional and behavioral" issues.

I never wrote any fanfiction before The Potter Project (read lots tho, mostly pro-Draco stuff as I've got a soft spot for the brat). I used to write lots of stuff for myself - short stores, poetry, etc but never seem to have the time any more. I joined PProj in the hopes of sort of jump starting my creative self again. If I ever finish the book I'm writing I'll dedicate it to all the Ferrets here!

I am also from Indep, MO and currently living in Springfield, like ronsmyman said, I am her roommate, I like to sew and make costumes from my favorite books and movies. I am a freshman English major hoping to become a freelance writer, but I realize that it's not likely to happen right away if it happens at all so I might just become a member of the peace corps.

I have been a Harry Potter fan since the summer of 1999, when my mom bought the first book and let my little sister read it, my sister read it in a day and I had to prove I was better than her so I took it and read it and finished within a day, but I had to know what happened next so I begged my mom to take me to the local bookstore where I bought the second book, I read late into the night and finally finished around three in the morning. The next day I went to a friend's house and borrowed her Prisoner of Azkaban book and brought it home to read, I couldn't put that one down either, I don't think I ate for almost two days, and as soon as I had finished the books I wanted to read them again, so I had to go out and buy my own copies of the first and third books, (very difficult for a jobless 14 year old).

Since then I have become obsessed with everything to do with Harry Potter. In high school journalism I used to spend my time on mugglenet rather than writing my stories for the newspaper, it all worked out okay, in the end I got everything completed and I got my Harry Potter fix.

I don't currently have a job because I don't have time, when I'm not playing around on Harry Potter sites I'm studying so that I can keep my scholarships, or just writing stories for my own amusement.

That's about all I can think of to say about myself right now. I can't wait to get started on writing for this site! I'm so glad you guys decided to go ahead with it, you've done an awesome job!

I seem so boring and plain compared to the rest of you.(how did I end up in this group) My name is Bethany aka bakbam (my initials before and after marriage). I am 26. I live in a very very small piece of this world called Glasgow, Kentucky aka "redneck heaven". I work full time as a manager at Taco Bell. I have two boys Jonathan (8) Joshua (6).I am what you would call a cyber junkie. I spend most of my free time on the computor. I will admit free time with 2 boys is limited between baseball in the summer and basketball in the winter. I can't forget the swimming lessons, karate classes , and of course there is soccer. I forgot birthday parties, parent teacher confrences, and club events at the schools. Jeez maybe I don't spend as much time on here as I thought I did. unsure.gif I envy those of you still in school. I really wish I had the time to go back to school. I was one of those nut cases who decided to skip a year after High School before going on to college. Well I got marrid and had my second child and that was the end of that.

I started reading the Potter books after the OotP came out. My 8 year old wanted to start reading the books, but isn't really ready for that level yet. I decided I would read them to both the boys. I got bored one night, picked up SS and never put it down. I ran out and bought all the books read them in about 3 weeks turned around and read them again. I have decided not to read the books to my boys. I really want them to read them for themselves so they are able to better appriciate them. After reading them about 4 times each I started looking around the web for more info on the books. I reluctently started the Potter Project (never wrote more than an essay before). I never knew how much fun writing could be. I am very pleased with my writing so far. I now the more I write the better it will be. smile.gif

Thank You for inviting me to join this wonderful group of people.

I feel so behind the times! All the cool people posted before me! happy.gif

Anyway, my name is Beth and I live in the big ol' city of Raleigh, NC. By big, I mean there are cows a few miles away. Which is a step up from my hometown Nebo (yeah, I know, whack name), in which there were cows in my front yard. Anyway, I'm here trying to get my masters degree from NC State University in English Lit. I'm going to be writing my thesis on CS Lewis's Till We Have Faces, even if everyone says I should write on something boring.

Meanwhile, I'm working as a substitute teacher, which means I'm popular in high schools across the county ("We've got a sub today? Yesss!"). My mom, a teacher to second grade hellions, introduced me to Harry Potter. She mailed me the first book when I was a freshman, and I had nothing else to read and no car to escape the dorm, so I read it. In one night. Then I called her and demanded more. Order of the Phoenix remains the longest novel I ever read without taking a break, except to pee.

About my user name... I've always had a moon thing; when I was a kid I'd go outside and stare at the moon with my mouth hanging open like an idiot. It's just so cool--a big rock, hanging in the sky. I got my user name from two things, one serious, one incredibly stupid. The first connotation was religious; light of the sun reflected. The second was from *ducks* Sailor Moon, which I was really big into during my first years of college and still have a soft spot for.

Let's see... anything else interesting about me... I have a whacked up thumb from when my brother left it in a car door (physical deformaties are great party conversation starters, y'all should try it) and I've written a novel which I'm trying to get published. It's a young adult fantasy, more like Robin McKinley than JK Rowling. (jeez, like anyone could ever be like JK!) but if anyone would like to read it, I always love feedback!

Now to bed--I've gotta go sub for some hoodlums tomorrow biggrin.gif

D'oh! How could I forget the most important part? THANKS for letting me join!

Helllo...I feel like Im in the harrypotteranonymous meeting again...

Well, I'm an 18 year old from Orlaaando Florida (its not really an exciting place but Im remembering watching Nickelodeon from Orlando and...) anyways, I'm currently undecided for my major, but Im thinking about majoring in Psychology and getting a minor in English Lit (the strange thing about English Lit is that people think its for English from England literature...I dont know why). Right...I digress...basically my hobbies are Harry Potter, (go mugglenet!) though I'm an avid fan of 80s teen movies (pretty in pink, bfstcl) and John Cusack movies (High Fidelity is my favorite). I also watch Smallville, 7th Heaven (I dont know if its worse admitting to people I like 7th or Harry Potter), Joe-Millionare and the X-Files.

Im a recent hp convert, for about a year, and since getting a DSL connection, Ive been able to spend loads of time messing around w/hp stuff. I've written 2 fanfics which are so-so, but mostly I do it as an avenue for all my crazy theories (harry is a snake, ect.). The best part about fanfics is that they are a great writing excercise, I get more feedback that I ever have in school "peer editing" sessions.

So, Im happy to be here, thanks for letting me join, and...
wacko.gif hehehe.

Dear Mr. Vernon, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it is we did wrong, but we think you're crazy for making us write an essay telling you who we think we are. You see us as you want to see us, in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions. But what we found out is that each one of us is a brain, and an athlete, and a basketcase, a princess, and a criminal. Does that answer your question? Sincerely yours, The Breakfast Club.

I know the feeling. My undergrad thesis was in on a language called Venetic, a pre-Italic dialect spoken around where Venice is now from about 800-500 BC. I have a copy, my director has a copy, and the university library has a copy - I doubt more than 3 people have read it unsure.gif

Hi! I live in Worcester MA, and I am a 15 year old homeschooled girl, who takes random English and Drama courses at the coll for the fun of it. I have always been rather a loner, even the one year I spent in a boarding school in Austria. But I've always written as a hobby, entering in all sorts of contests, the first being with plays. I have a passion for the theatre. I act, I write, I do lighting. I go by Zymurgy because it amuzes me that almost no one can tell me what it means. I have a hatred of other people's grammer mistakes, but like all of us, I stick to my mistakes as my own copywrited material. I call it being creative. I have been know by variouse nicknames throught my life, none of which I am particularly fond of. My family is alloud to call me what they call me only because they just so happen to be my family. Old friends are alloud to call me what they call me simply because they are my old friends. And... sigh, friends of my friends, and friends of my family are aloud to call me what I've been introduced to them as simply because I can't put up a fight. Enough about the name. *sigh* I have an interest in extreamly dead languages. I am on my third year of Latin, which I enjoy exceedingly. I read Ceasar before I go to bead. It's that bad. I started Ancient Greek last year, and I am not up to anything in that area yet. I am bilingual, English/German, which causes me no end to frustration especially whith the constant nagging question: Does the I or the e go first? My mathematics is atrociouse. But that could have something to do with the fact that both my parents are professors of the subject. (Hense perhaps, my constant professor bashing in stories. I just love doing that) Another odd thing is that I was born on leap day. Which means I get to turn 4 next year. Which I am looking forward to with undisguised enthusiasm. I am also a great fan of music. I have played violin since the age of five and pianno since six. I play classicle and some contemporary music. And, as you all know, I cannot spell to save my poor soul. Can you imagine, my present condition is a million times better than it was three or four years ago. Then not even my parents could read what I wrote. Ok, enough about me!
