I. Characters:The Dursley/Potter/Weasley Family Tree
StudentsGryffindorJames Potter - 1st year, Gryffindor. He has an owl, a tawney named Prometheus. [Prometheus was one of the Titans of Greek mythology. He was punished by Zeus for giving fire to man.] His wand is Mahogany, 10 1/2 inches, Dragon Heartstring core. He has conflicting feelings about being part of a famous family.
Philip McKenzie - 1st year, Gryffindor. He has muggle parents who live in London, but his uncle is a wizard. He has some unusual abilites: he calmed Duke and his cronies out of a fight, and he stopped Allen moaning in his sleep the first night in the Gryffindor common room. He has a knack for charms, and seems to have some sort of "seer ability," because he knows the two unknown teachers were coming down the hall before they arrive and pulls James into a classroom.
Serena Weasley - 1st year, Gryffindor. She's very talkative.
Lily Anne Potter - 3rd year, Gryffindor. James' older sister. She is a "Marauder." Wants to be an animagus. Has an owl named Cassandra.
Freddrick "Freddy" Pervical Weasley - 3rd yr (probably since he and Lily Anne are so tight), Gryffindor. He is a "Marauder." Son of Ron & Hermione.
Carson Bones - Gryffindor, 1st year. He's described as tall. Carson is the nephew of Susan Bones, who died in the last battle against Voldemort. Has an oversized barn owl named McGuffin.
Allen Smith - 1st year, Gryffindor. Has a toad named Rupert.
Sean Wiles - 1st year, in James' dorm room (related to mysterious Astronomy Prof.)
Charlie Weasley (Jr.?) - Gryffindor, 7th year. A quiet type, captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team.
Finley and Fiona Weasley - Gryffindor, at least 5th year. Bill's twins, part veela. [Thus, we assume that Bill married Fleur.] Prefects.
Elisa Fontaine - first year, in Herbology.
SlytherinDuke Dursley - 1st year, Slytherin. Originally, Agrippa had named him "Lloyd," but Evlpez named him "Duke" after the "Duke Nukem" video game. He's not big like Dudley, but rather small. He dislikes Herbology.
Athol McMagnus - 1st year, Slytherin. The smallest of Duke's cronies. Not the sharpest crayon in the box. [Athol means a rocky crossing and Magnus means large.]
Claude Jugson - 1st year, Slytherin. Another of Duke's cronies. Cunning. [He has the same last name as one of the Death Eaters who fought in the battle at the Ministry in OP. Claude means "lame" or "crippled," after the Roman Emperor Claudius.]
Pollux Travers - the third of Duke's Gang. Slytherin, most likely a 1st year. [Pollux is a name from Roman mythology. He and his twin brother Castor were refered to as the Gemini.]
Penelope - 1st year, Slytherin, cousin to Claude Jugson. A friend of Serena's.
RavenclawSeliani Malfoy - a third year, "only child and last of the line", wants to be an Auror, has seen Jacobsen visit Malfoy Manner
William Walters - 1st year, Ravenclaw. Boy in Potions
HufflepuffundeterminedFreddy's & Lily Anne's friend Marcus Wood
TeachersMinerva McGonnagall - now head of school
Luna Lovegood - teaching Defense against the Dark Arts.
Rubeus Hagrid - met the first-years and took them across the lake, so he's likely still the Keeper of Grounds and Keys.
Neville Longbottom - Herbology. He takes the first-years into the sorting.
Professor Allison Wiles - Astronomy teacher - Married to Prof. Jacobson. Put out the storting hat. Tall, younger, very long auburn hair in loose bouncy curls. She is
suspected of planning something mysterious with her husband. Charlie says she's related to Dumbledore somehow, a niece of some sort; but her husband denied that rumor. She is Sean Wiles' (Mother's) cousin.
Professor Will Jacobson - Transfiguration. Married to the Astronomy teacher. Was overheard planning something mysterious with his wife. Previous 5 yrs at Ministry Of Magic in Research Division.
Gilderoy Lockhart - teaching charms, but still not really together.
Viktor Krum - teaching potions
II. TimelineJames refers to Voldemort's defeat by Harry as "twenty years ago." If we assume that Harry defeats Voldemort in book seven (1997-98), and if we assume that James' reference is literall and not approximate, that means the year is 2017 or 2018. That would mean that Harry is 37 years old or so.
Serena also says that the swamp (left over from 1995-96, OotP) was put there "about twenty years ago."
But that's a lot of assuming!

III. New MagicSerena puts an "allergy charm" on Duke.
Krum uses a "Stupor Draught" on the first day in Potions.
Lily nd Freddy use a charm which causes a colourful line of specs to trail Prof. Jacobsen
"Pixilated Astrellagus" = coloured stars appear where the wand is pointed
IV. MiscellaneousHarry's never seen his own chocolate frog card. The kids are hiding them from him.
James remembers going to Hogwarts before he started school there: once for Dumbledore's retirement, and once for the Triwizard Cup, in which Harry had served as a judge.
Harry hasn't heard from Dumbledore since Dumbledore retired.
