Hello and welcome to my latest crazy idea! For another piece in the Order, I present to you the Letter Game!

Description of the Letter Game

The letter game is really quite simple. I got the idea from reading a delightful book called “Sorcery and Cecilia” whose co-author is one of my fav. authors, Patricia Wrede.

Anyway, the rules are easy:
1. Each player picks a character. The character must be separated from the other characters for some reason, hence the need to write letters.
2. The player writes a letter as the character to another character. The plot of the adventure comes through the letters.

This version of the letter game is going to focus on the Marauders. Here’s the background info you need to know…

Time: summer of 1975, the summer before the Marauder’s 6th year at Hogwarts. The boys have learned how to be animagi, but have not yet made the Marauder’s map or played their infamous practical joke on Snape.

Characters:

Character available
Moony/Sirius Black: This is a year before Sirius runs away to live with James. His summer so far as been miserable; his mother is insufferable and his brother has been delving more and more into dark matters…
Due to slow response as of 8/28/04 Sirius will be written by Hermione_dg.

SiriuslyIrish/James Potter: James is currently residing at his home in Godric's Hollow. He's not yet convinced Lily to date him, but how could anyone refuse someone as charming as him? Due to slow response as of 8/28/04 James will be written elf_girl_87 AND Azkabella.

McGonagall's Cat [/Remus Lupin: This has probably been one of poor Moony's worst summers since he was infected with lycanthropy, these months are the first time he's had to deal with his transformation alone since his friends became animagi for him.

Evlpez/Peter Pettigrew: Peter Pettigrew misses his friends, whom at this point he still idolizes and loves dearly. Without them, he feels smaller and weaker - but becoming an animagus has given him a new inner strength he may not have quite discovered yet.

/Regulus Black: Feeling the pressure from both family (minus Sirius) and friends, Regulus is almost ready to join the elite Death Eaters. Now it's just a matter of proving himself.

Zymurgy/Lord Voldemort: A power-hungry, egomaniac, dark arts dabbling, semi-immortal psycho, bent on world domination.

Zymurgy/Snape: Our favorite greasy haired brat, currently in the same year as the Marauders.

Ronsmyman/Lily: A beautiful redhead, continuously pestered by James...

Pinkpanther/Alice: The future Mrs. Longbottom, friend of Lily.

Evlpez/Narcissa Black: Prim and prejudiced, hoping for "an arrangement" with Lucius Malfoy.

Character available
Azkabella/ Bellatrix Lestrange She's power hungry, secretive, very dedicated to Voldemort - she's seeking information about future targets, etc. Deals with her husband in her own time.




Credit where credit is due
I’d like to thank Cat for helping me develop this idea into fruition… she helped me think of a lot of good ideas and credit goes to her for coming up with using the Marauders instead of the Trio.


Would you like to join the fun? Here’s what you need to do:
1. Pick a character no one else has and sign up for him here in the forum. Please include the one sentence blurb to set up your character.
2. This character must have a plausible excuse to write someone else within the context of the story
3. If you pick a Marauder or someone who writes only to a Marauder, then please post your letters in the Marauder’s forum.
4. If you pick a character who does not write to the Marauders, then make sure you’ve got someone to write to and start up a new forum (I.e. a Dumbledore-Snape forum, etc.). This will help keep down rampant chaos.
5. All letters must start out with a recipient’s name and end with a closing signature (I.e. Dear James…Your Pal Sirius). Again, to cut down on rampant chaos.
6. Letters should stick with canon. The Lexicon is the ideal resource with this.


This forum will be the place to sign-up for new characters and post any outside information that should be known that is referenced for your letter. (example: if Sirius and James have a code name for Lupin's condition, such as 'his time of the month' then they wouldn't explain it to each other in the letter. Instead, refer to it as the code words in the letter, then post here what that means.). Please put all the discussion and questions of the letter game in the discussion forum. That will keep this area fairly clean and easy to use as a resource for the writers and readers.

There isn't a schedule for this, so post whenever you want to. Just keep the time line in mind and pay attention to what other's post. There is an underlying ulterior plan to the rampant chaos... adventure will ensue, I promise!

Also: the Marauders are now filled up. There's still room for players, tho! I'll go ahead and give some spoiler info: I'm taking creative liberty and making this the year that Regulus joins the dark side. So if someone would like to write for Regulus, Voldie, Dumbledore, Snape, etc... lots-o-possibilities.

evlpez's edit: BTW, for those who haven't checked, the full moons for the summer/fall of 1976 were: June 12th, July 11th, Aug. 9th, Sept. 8th and Oct. 8th.

The Maruaders, Lily, Alice, Severus are in between their FIFTH and SIXTH years at Hogwarts.

The infamous Snape's Underwear event will happen once school starts back up.

Actually, the underwear incident happened at the end of fifth year, so it's already taken place in this timeframe.
