He began arguing with Lily about who was going to tell their father about Duke being at Hogwarts. Lily won the argument.
As soon as the feast was over Lily went straight to the owlery to send the message.
Agrippa - bakbam already wrote that Lily had sent the message about Duke.
I like that you've shown us James' message though, and named his owl.
Bakbam - you wrote it first - which do you like? Either you can edit out your bit about Lily sending the message or Agrippa can edit out his note from James.

If we were to bring Hermione on at some point, she and Ron could live in Hogsmeade and he'd just apparate to work every day. By way of example, Ottery-St.-Catchpole isn't too near London (nearer than Hogwarts', granted), but Arthur Weasley apparates in every day.
You're right. (Besides which, Ron might be working with George as co-owner of Weasley's Wizarding Wheezes and be overseeing the Hosgmeade shop - which used to be Zonko's.) To be honest, I like your idea of Hermione coming to fill in when Lockhart proves his total incompetence (which should be very soon, as McGonnagal isn't likely to allow it to continue - she's a bit more level-headed than Albus when it comes to her staff, I think).
It might make an interesting class if Freddy & Lily's year are in the classroom with a prank already set up before Lockhart shows up, only to have the 'new substitute professor' come in and it's Freddy's mother. (Ouch. You thought getting a 'howler' was bad?)
