Edit: * What I meant here is that I think Hogwarts is in Scotland - (which of course I know technically is part of Great Britain...) and that Ron (if an auror) would be living in London or somewhere close to the Ministry. We don't know if any of the Professors of Hogwarts have been married, but it would be difficult having to live at the school with a family elsewhere. I know, I know - floo powder and apparition would help, but it just seems weird.

I'll put in what I said in a PM to evlpez about this:

If we were to bring Hermione on at some point, she and Ron could live in Hogsmeade and he'd just apparate to work every day. By way of example, Ottery-St.-Catchpole isn't too near London (nearer than Hogwarts', granted), but Arthur Weasley apparates in every day.

I'm not trying to make a case for bringing in Hermione. I'm just saying we could.
