Harry Potter and the Missing Portkey- Part Six (continued)
Five minutes later, Harry and Ron stepped out of the fireplace in Flourish and Blotts. Both of them were covered in soot and coughing.
“C’mon, let’s get out of here,” Harry said, noticing that they were drawing looks from the other patrons.
“What about Hermione’s book?” Ron asked.
Harry hesitated. He could picture Hermione’s look of disappointment if they showed up without it.
“Oh, alright,” Harry relented. “Let’s be quick though. Which book was she looking for?”
Ron pulled Hermione’s carefully folded note from his pocket, “Enchantments A-Z, by Matilda Madgafrick.”
Harry looked around the towers of books, hoping to find someone who could help them find the one they needed. Unfortunately for them, the harried shopkeeper seemed busy in the corner with an old witch who was rattling on about the smarmy gnome in her garden. According to her, the gnome thought he was a kipper and kept dipping himself into the small vat of ketchup that she kept in her kitchen. “I don’t know if I should feel sorry for the condiment monger or if I should just eat him and put him out of his misery,” she said.
“Let’s look over here,” Harry said, turning away and pointing to a brobdingnagian shelf full of thick books.
Ron started to nod in agreement and then stopped suddenly.
“I don’t believe it,” Ron said his eyes wide. “Harry, look who’s here.”
To Be Continued…
Words used: brobdingnagian, (June), monger (June), kipper (July), smarmy (July)
