It is starting!

This was on HPANA today ~
QUOTE
JK Rowling appeared on the Richard & Judy Show in the UK, and had a few things to say that may interest fans.

Some highlights from the show:

Book 7 is NOT finished but she is well into it
The final chapter for book 7 has changed slightly - two more people have died than she originally planned and one other person has got a reprieve
Jo first wrote the final chapter in 1990
She has regretted writing some parts where she may have boxed herself in, earlier in the series
Jo says Ron is generally more popular than Harry -- remembers seeing an unofficial poll on a fansite reflecting this
You can read the rest of the highlights here courtesy of SnitchSeeker, but since they seem to be having server issues, here they are for now:

She would be willing to kill Harry in order to prevent future authors from writing sequels
She was in denial of her fame for the first three books, shocked when the press made slight reference to Potter
Jo mentioned she is indeed wealthy, but many stats are falsely reported
Jessica, her daughter, is often pestered at school for upcoming book titles, plot details, etc.
Jo has written half of another children's book in her spare time
Her boggart would be that of Mrs. Weasley's: her children dead
She made up the rules for quidditch in 30 minutes after a fight with her ex-boyfriend

Mugglenet has the video: http://www.mugglenet.com/app/news/show/152

And Rueters had an article: http://today.reuters.com/news/newsArticle....POTTER-PLOT.xml

Two more people die, wow. That's gonna keep us on out tows for awhile. She doesn't say how important/beloved the characters are but ...

On a different note Mugglecast this week they were speculating about titles for the seventh book. Apparently Warner Brothers still has trade marks on three Harry Potter titles that have not been used:

Harry Potter and the Alchemist's Cell
Harry Potter and the Chariots of Light
Harry Potter and the Pyramids of Furmat

It has been said that the Half Blood Prince was trade marked in the UK around 2003.
I don't know that I like any of them to much, but anyone have any other thoughts on titles?

Yup Chad13 .. it was .. this is X-posted from off of my site .. after listning to the mugglecast I did some digging of my own.

So I was listening to my first ever mugglecast tonight and Andrew was talking about possible titles for book 7 .. he had gone to the UK's Trademark & Patent website and looked up Harry Potter, turns out that 3 years ago .. YES you heard me right!!! WB Trademarked "Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince".

They also trademarked (Registered) 15 other possible titles .. NOW .. 12 of them have been withdrawn and there are still 3 that are Registered for Trademark .. I dont rmember if he stated a timeframe from when they all were registered to being withdrawn .. will have to listen to mugglecast again to find out.

.. Trademarking HBP could NOT possibly have been a guess on WB's part .. Is JKR letting them know the titles in advance?? .. Did she provided a list of possible titles and has been narrowing it down for them??

Could the next book be one of the remaining 3 titles??? Your guess is as good as mine .. The three titles remaining are as follows:

1) HARRY POTTER AND THE ALCHEMIST'S CELL

2) HARRY POTTER AND THE PYRAMIDS OF FURMAT

3) HARRY POTTER AND THE CHARIOTS OF LIGHT

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince was Trademarked by WB on 07-24-2003 .. so .. what do you all think???

The page to the trademarks page is Here if you want to take a look.

Well, lets see if maybe we can figure the best guess by going over what we know:

- Each book title is an object/person/people which is the core of the plot but not always the main topic.

- With the exception of Chamber of Secrets, no book has been a location.

- Four of the books have included the word "of" in the title

- No titles have included transportation

-The Chamber of Secrets, Azkaban, Phoenixes, the Goblet of Fire, and the Sorcerer's Stone are all very old.

I think it'd be safe to narrow out Furmat.

Sooo, my best guess would be Harry Potter and the Alchemist's Cell smile.gif I just think it flows best.
But I'm not putting Chariots of light out of the realm of possibility either.

Alchemist's Cell sounds best to me, so that almost certainly means it won't be that one.

With the bizarre name of Azkaban prominent, it is possible Furmat is in the running (and having had Bill work as a curse breaker in Egypt adds a bit of weight to this a serious contender).

That only leaves Chariots of Light without much supporting evidence, so it must be the one!

TLC has transcripts of a discussion with JKR in NYC last week for the reading with Irving and King. Here is an interesting sentence concerning not talking with anyone while writing her books. This specifically refers to book 7 and the "they" mentioned is her editors.

Please note the past tense about showing the manuscript to them!!!!

They were both really possitive about this book, they really liked it.

This one really is from the Harry, Carrie, and Garp fund raiser in NYC this week.

QUOTE
August 1, 2006, 9:50 pm | J.K. Rowling
JKR in NYC: From the first reading

At tonight's charity reading at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, Jon Stewart introduced J.K. Rowling to an excited crowd. During his introduction Stewart said, "I look forward to each and every installment... I should be sitting out there with you."

For the reading, Rowling read from Half-Blood Prince the scene where Dumbledore tells Tom Riddle he is a wizard. In response to some of the fan questions, J.K. Rowling said both that the relationship between a wizard and his wand would become more important in Book 7 and that if she were to look into the Mirror of Erised, Hermione would see both the war over and the trio fine, and herself closely entwined with a certain person whose identity you can probably guess. She also said the online "shipping wars" (very spirited discussions mainly between people who thought Harry and Hermione should end up together and those who thought Ron and Hermione should end up together) were like cyber warfare, and said what happens to Draco as a result of his not being able to kill Dumbledore will be addressed in book seven. More soon!

The first night she also said that book seven was coming along really well, and that it was rather long because she kept coming up with more ends she had to tie up.

Long is good!!!

We want long.

In fact, two or three more books would be nice.

Maybe an entire other set from Harry's Parents' era, and one from Dumbledore's dealings with Grindelwalt, plus perhaps a series from the founding four, and... and... and...

Maybe she won't give in right away, but you know, after a few years, a little rest, I do believe she might miss Harry as much as we will and you know, maybe then she'll write another book smile.gif
