The Complete Leapin' Leprechaun Duel Rules (subject to change at any time): 1. ELIGIBILITY: You must be a full member to participate. New members must familiarize themselves with the Project Ferret General Rules & Guidelines and fulfill the usual requirements to get full membership status. (See the
How To Join Topic in "About Project Ferret" for details.)
2. HOW TO SUBMIT AN ENTRY: Submissions must be posted in the topic containing the Mission for each round. Please follow the mission requirements. Submissions that are a bit off-mission will not be eliminated from the polls, but they will get fewer votes than those that have all the required elements. Members may submit up to 3 entries per round, but they must be significantly different from one another. Duplicate posts will be deleted (the most recent will remain). All submissions must be in prose, past tense and from the view point of a character of your choosing. All submissions must have a title, as this is what identifies a submission in the polls - member names will not be on the poll choices.
3. PROOF READ YOUR WORK: Please proof read your entry before posting. Writers may use a beta reader to proof their entries. Once you have posted your submission, you may continue to edit it until the topic closes at the end of the submission period. Once the submission topic is closed, all subs will be considered finished and voting will begin.
4. PARODY SUBMISSIONS: Our members have a history of really enjoying reading/writing Parody works. Parody submissions will only be accepted in the Wizarding Wheezes Topic for the duration of the contest.
These entries will not be voted on weekly, win weekly prizes or become part of the story. Writers may submit for any round mission at any time, and their only real requirement is that they be based (however loosely) on the story being created by this contest, however, the winning submission may garner additional favor from the Department of Mysteries by following the weekly mission and deadline for which it was written. Members may submit as many Wheezes as they want, but each must be significantly different from the authors' other submissions. Duplicate posts will be deleted (the most recent will remain). During the polling period for the final round, members will be able to vote on their overall favorite Wheezes submission. The overall favorite Wheeze will WIN A PRIZE sponsored by the Department of Mysteries. (Don't ask what it is - the DoM is being very tight-lipped about this.) Wheezes submissions may be in prose, poetry, song lyric or movie script format, but they must also be in English.
5. VOTING: Polls will be set up for 2 days following the closing of the submission periods (Thursday and Friday of each week during the Duel). Voters are encouraged to re-read all the submissions before casting their votes for the round favorite. There is no rating system - voters will pick one submission as their favorite for the round. The entry with the most votes will be installed as part of the Leapin' Leprechauns story. Voters will not see the current poll results until after casting a vote.
Choosing to see the results before casting a vote will nullify your chance to vote. Posting current results from an open poll is prohibited. Any posts containing open poll results will be deleted immediately. The winner each week will win the Weekly Writers' Prize. In the 3rd and final round, there will be three polls: The 3rd round Weekly poll for the 3rd installment of the Leapin' Leprechauns Story, the Grand Prize Poll for the overall favorite submission from the three weekly rounds, and the Wizarding Wheezes poll for the favorite parody.
6. TIEBREAKING: If there is a tie at the end of any polling period, one day of polling will be added to choose the winner and the rest of the Duel will be conducted on an altered schedule.
7. DISCUSSION: Each round will have its own discussion topic, where members can offer pats on the back and constructive criticism to the writers. As always, inflammatory remarks are prohibited. Keep it contructive and kind. Writers are reminded that these discussions are meant to be friendly, and to expect comments on their work. If you feel you've been treated unfairly - resolve any issues with another member using our Private Messaging system.
As always, the Project Ferret General Rules & Guidelines apply. If you're not sure what they are, you may find them HERE.
